Culture's debut album from 1977 is essential listening for all reggae music fans. Lead vocalist Joseph Hill (R.I.P) had a vision tied in with a prophecy by Marcus Garvey about a day of reckoning and judgment which was foreseen on a date with sevens clashing. Jamaica went very quiet on the 7th of July, 1977 especially after the release of this album. This record is an all time classic in the world of roots reggae. Joseph Hill is survived by fellow band members Albert Walker and Kenneth Dayes with his son Kenyatta Hill picking up the torch. Other musicians playing on this LP include the living legends Sly & Robbie with production by Joe Gibbs.
